This 131 year old signed and dated folk art bottle was made in 1886 by A. Liberoth and it contains a wonderful yarn winder built on an elaborate frame. This attractive winder is a rare, very early bottle with great provenance.
It has four arms and has red yarn wrapped around them. The upright supports of the frame are nicely carved as well as the base pieces. The base has slots in the ends of each piece where the adjoining piece fits in and then is pegged to hold it in place. The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper that has a crosspiece going through on the inside making it impossible to remove the stopper. On the crosspiece is written "18 "and "86" - the year the bottle was built on one side; and, "A" and "Liberoth" - the name of the maker on the other side. The top of the bottle is decoratively carved.
